Quaking aspen is the most widespread tree in North America. In our area, it is a dominant tree following logging or fire in the northern region. It occurs in a variety of soil types on rocky bluffs and slopes, along streams and lakeshores. It spreads underground by root suckers. The leaves turn a bright yellow in the fall.
